Welcome to RSLL 2025

We wanted to reach out to our families to both welcome you to our upcoming spring season and to share some of the remarkable strides our youth softball league has made in the past years. Thanks to our community's support, dedication, and hard work, our program has flourished in ways we could only imagine. We are proud to highlight several key accomplishments that showcase the growth of our league and our commitment to both the sport and the community.

Supporting Our Youth: Scholarships & Umpire Program

Our scholarship program has been a standout success, with over $35,000 awarded to girls and young ladies who have continued their softball journey into high school and have graduated. These funds were made possible by the generous contributions to our Annual Golf Tournament, which raised an impressive $35,000 over the last few years. This initiative ensures that our athletes can pursue their dreams both on and off the field. Save the date as this year’s tournament will be held on Monday, May 19th!!

Additionally, we are proud to have launched our Youth Umpire Program, providing an invaluable opportunity for our older players to give back to the sport they love while gaining important leadership and decision-making skills. We also introduced our ‘Every Kid Can Play’ policy, which ensures that no child is left out due to financial constraints, promoting inclusivity and making the game accessible for all.

Investing in Our Community: Sturges Park & Local Initiatives

Our league’s commitment to improving the local facilities has been a cornerstone of our work. Through generous donations of time, materials, and funds, we helped rebuild Sturges Park’s Softball Field. The renovations include:

* New dugouts and backstop
* A new scoreboard and home run fence
* Breakaway bases and infield clay
* Fencing around the tennis and basketball courts

We’re thrilled to see these upgrades benefit our athletes and the community at large.

In addition to our commitment to the park, we have organized multiple food and clothing drives for the Town of Reading, as well as sponsorships for the Parker, Coolidge, and RMHS Drama Clubs. Our league has also contributed to sports equipment donations, charity events, and supported the Dave Pothier Gold Medal Foundation. These are just a few examples of how we strive to make a positive impact on both the lives of our players and our community.

Supporting Local Youth: High School Softball & Local Partnerships

We continue to show our support for Reading High School Softball, where we’ve donated new uniforms, equipment, and a home run fence to help the team compete at the highest level. Our league also helped raise $20,000 through two successful Trivia Night fundraisers, which directly benefit the high school program.

Our commitment to local businesses has also been a priority. Whenever possible, we strive to support Reading’s local businesses for league necessities, fostering community collaboration.

Building the Future: Birch Meadow & Inter-Town Softball

We’ve made significant contributions to the Birch Meadow Lighted Field, donating a home run fence and windscreen that are now being used by the High School Softball Program. Additionally, we’ve coordinated inter-town softball games with neighboring towns, further fostering friendly competition and building stronger ties within the region.

Finally, our Championship Day is the highlight of every season! We are so happy to have so many community members attend for a day of grilling, games, and a DJ. This day is the close out to our in town season. A chance for all the girls to come down, see their name on the Softball Fence and cheer on the two final teams for each age group as they battle to win their division!

Volunteering and Sponsorships

NONE of this could be accomplished without our Board. You will see many of our board members down at the fields making sure everything is ready for the girls or at our Championship day grilling burgers and hot dogs. This year we will have some of our beloved board members moving onto new opportunities. Now is the time to join!! If you have any interest in learning more and joining our board please reach out to Julie Silbovitz @ [email protected] and we can set up some time to meet the board and discuss future positions. We will hold board interviews in March so you can shadow current members through this season!

In addition we are so fortunate to have so many amazing sponsors. If you are interested in sponsoring a spring team fill out this form and we will reach out to you once teams are finalized!

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, we remain committed to creating opportunities for our players to grow, thrive, and give back to their communities. We are incredibly proud of all that we’ve accomplished together, and we look forward to achieving even greater things in the future. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in making the Reading Softball Little League such an integral part of our community.

In closing, THANK YOU for sharing your kids with us! We love having your girls be part of this program, the largest youth girls program in our town. We truly enjoy coaching and watching them grow and have fun!
